Viral Videos of the Week: 26 FEB 2012 through 03 MAR 2012

FOR THE NEXT TWO WEEKS, THERE WILL BE NO VIRAL VIDEO POSTING. I WILL BE ON VACATION FROM 08 MAR 2012 THROUGH 20 MAR 2012.

Here are the viral videos for the week, 26 FEB 2012 through 03 MAR 2012. These will be once once a week, on Sundays, and could be from any genre! Go ahead and comment down below to share your thoughts!

Invisible Mercedes
Innovation is what makes the world go round. Coming out with the new product this will be ‘in’ of will be ‘cool’ is every creator/inventors dream. One of the most recent innovations and competition categories is vehicles. Those that read my bio know that I’m interested in Automotive Technology, thus this video piqued my interest. Although the video does not so much direct the attention towards Mercedes’ new hybrid coming out soon, it is more about the advertising of the new automobile. In the video, the creators take sheets of LEDs and stick them to the left side of the car. In side the car, a camera faces the opposite way, the right side of the car from the inside. The LEDs project the image of the camera thus making the car look essentially invisible. Watch the video and you will understand what I mean. When I viewed the video, the view counter was 304, of course it was glitching since the video had over 1,000 ‘Likes’.

Pedestrian Revenge
Although this video received 1,000,000+ likes in two days, thats not the point! For those of you who do not know who the director/actor ‘freddiew’ is, why not? He has recently come to light with in the last year or so, but his videos contain some great CGI, action scenes and some comedy. Mostly, his videos are action related, but there is some comedy mixed in to make everyone get a laugh. ‘freddiew’ has become so popular he even shot a video with “Cowboys and Aliens” director, Jon Favreau. The video consisted of some of the movie props too. What are you waiting for? Watch his videos, enjoy some short but excellent action scenes, and continue to look out for his next video. They seem to come out every week or so.

Worlds Largest SlingSHOT | Dude Perfect
“World’s Largest”videos are always interesting. You either are disappointed because it truly is not the “World’s Largest”or you are satisfied because it was really cool and it was not the “World’s Largest.” This slingshot is, as far as I know, not the “World’s Largest,” but it still is damn cool. The largest slingshot I know about is the one built by Mythbusters. This would be a cool thing to do. Sadly, God knows we would not be able to do this in an urban area, but launching the basket ball and then claiming you made “Worlds  Largest SlingSHOT” would sure as hell reach you 20,000 in one day.

My thoughts and comments will be happening once a week on Saturday night. If you find a video, go ahead and e-mail me a link (Click here to email)! Like the article up top if you enjoyed these videos.

NBA Games Of The Week (Feb 27 - Mar 4)

After an exciting NBA All-Star Weekend, it is time for the second half of the lockout-shortened regular season. Of all the games this week, here are the most intriguing matchups:

Chicago Bulls at San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday (2/29)

The 27-8 Chicago Bulls take on the 24-10 San Antonio Spurs in a game that will come down to the wire. Not only are their records similar, but they are both second place in their respective conferences. Derrick Rose has been out with a back injury, and has missed 10 games this season. He demonstrated Sunday in the All-Star Game that he is healthy enough to make an impact on Wednesday's game. The Spurs have been rock solid both offensively and defensively this season, and Tony Parker is having yet another stellar season, averaging 19.4 PPG. What we have here is two evenly matched teams whose offenses are lead by their Point Guards.

Prediction:

Spurs 101-Bulls 96
(I picked the Spurs because they have homecourt advatage, and they are virtually unstoppable at home, where they are 13-1.)

Miami Heat at Portland Trail Blazers (3/1)

The 27-7 Miami Heat travel to Portland to take on the 18-16 Trail Blazers. The Heat are red hot, winning each of their last 8 contests. They have a half game lead over Chicago for 1st place in the East, and they look unstoppable. The Blazers, while only 8th in their conference, should put up a good fight against the Heat. They are 13-5 at home and their PF Lamarcus Aldridge is having a career year with 22.3 PPG.

Prediction:

Heat 109 Trail Blazers 99
(The Heat will have had a full week's rest and are fully healthy. Lebron and Wade are both playing at a high level, which is potent against any defense.)

Oklahoma State Thunder at Atlanta Hawks on Saturday (3/3)

The 27-7 Thunder take a ride to "Hotlanta" to face the 20-14 Hawks. Thunder SF Kevin Durant, the All-Star Game MVP, looks to make a ton of noise in the second half of the season. His Thunder have a 3 game lead over the 2nd Place Spurs to top the Western Conference. The Thunder are currently on a 5 game winning streak. The Hawks started off strong this season but have cooled off drastically. They have won just 4 of their last 10. However, despite their recent struggles, I predict that the Hawks, lead by Joe Johnson and Josh Smith, will make a fantastic recovery during the 2nd half of the regular season.

Prediction:

Thunder 107 Hawks 103
(I predict such a close game because the Thunder have lost 7 games this season, but 6 of those 7 have been on the road, showing that they are in no way invincible outside of OKC.)

I hope you enjoyed these predictions. Please follow me on Twitter to keep up!

NHL Games Of The Week (Feb 27- Mar 4)

Here are my choices for the most interesting match-ups, this week in the NHL. Enjoy!

New Jersey Devils @ New York Rangers on Monday (2/27)

The Devils with 74 points are just 1 back of the 4th seed in the east. They’ll have to beat probably the best team in the league at home while they look to tie up the race for the president’s trophy. The Rangers might make a move for multiple time all-star Rick Nash, which would make them that much better.

Prediction - Rangers 5-3

Los Angeles Kings @ Minnesota Wild on Tuesday (2/28)

Both of these teams are in the midst of a playoff run. The wild are 5 points back of 8th and LA is 2 points back. LA is playing the night before in Nashville which I think they will be a little sluggish to start but will pick it up midway through.

Prediction - Kings 3-2

Florida Panthers @ Winnipeg Jets on Thursday (3/1)

These 2 teams are battling for control of the Southeast division lead. The Jets have played more games then Florida giving the Panthers the edge. Winning the division is crucial because it gives you either the 1,2 or 3 seed going into the playoffs.

Prediction - Panthers 5-4

Viral Videos of the Week: 19 FEB 2012 through 25 FEB 2012

Here are the viral videos for the week, 19 FEB 2012 through 25 FEB 2012. These will be once once a week, on Sundays, and could be from any genre! Go ahead and comment down below to share your thoughts!
BRITISH SAS AND US MARINES IN FIREFIGHT WITH TALIBAN 2011 *GRAPHIC FOOTAGE*
The following video contains real life battlefield footage. For those of you that do not know, I take a lot of pride in this beautiful Country and our Military services. Every now and again I take a look at this channel and see what it new. FUNKER530 is a Middle East War veteran, from what I understand, of the Canadian Army. However he fought a long side our United States forces in deadly hotspots in Afghanistan. The following video is just a taste of what his channel has to offer. He has some of the most uncensored and unbiased combat footage videos on the internet. As the title mentioned, the videos are graphic and viewer discretion is advised.

National Anthem
To some, the National Anthem is what they fought for. Others, it's what we honor for those who fought for this Country. Then, there are those who just like because it's another "song" that they have to sing. What frustrates the absolute hell out of me is professional sports player Who does not love a ‘Saturday Night Live’ skit every now and again? I saw this one about 2 years ago and I thought it was absolutely hilarious; simply because it was true. The National Anthem gets ruined when people add their own tweaks to the notes. Its the National Anthem, not the Christina Augliera Anthem… oh wait. She needs to get the words right first before anything else. Just sing it like its supposed to be done. It’s a disgrace to the Country and Anthem when done any other way.

Romney: My Wife Drives A Couple Of Cadillacs

Video was posted 24 FEB 2012. When I viewed the video, it only had 307 views. This might be a glitch in the system as usual, but as far as I am concerned, it says 307.  As this article is getting published, the video has reached 136,000 views. If this does not say pompous then I do not know what does. “Anne drives a couple of Cadillacs. [Vote for me, I drive Detroit made cars.]” Sadly, I will not be able to vote in this years election, if I could, it would be for Newt Gingrich. But, that’s not the point. No one really cares what your wife drives or how many cars she drives. No one really cares what you drive. That is what is wrong with the world today. Notice how the room did not stir when he made this comment? Why should it matter how much money you have or what you own when it comes to elected officials? It should not. It should be what your views are, how you are going to fix the country, and how you are going to prevent the problems. This is one reason why I hate election years because the worst come out in people, voters vote for people just because and unnecessary fights and arguments get picked.

UFC 144 Predictions by Huck Pollack

Predictions for UFC 144 (Live From Japan)

UFC 144 is live tonight from Japan! This has potential to be the best night of fights all year. This event will have seven fights on the main card instead of the usual 5. This means I will only go into detail about the fights I am most excited for.

Other Predictions

Cheick Kongo Def. Mark Hunt

Jake Shields Def. Yoshihiro Akiyama

Yushin Okami def Tim Boetsch

Anthony "Showtime" Pettis (14-2) Vs Joe Lauzon (21-6)

Anthony "Showtime" Pettis

Joe Lauzon

This is a very interesting fight in the lightweight Division, I love this match up! Lauzon, the jiu jitsu wizard will want to close the distance of the great striker Anthony Pettis and try to take him down and submit him, thing is, will Lauzon be able to do that without getting KOed? Anthony will want to work his incredible striking game and punish Lauzon on the feet. Pettis will not want to get taken down or he is in big trouble, so expect Pettis to leap into Lauzon's range and throw small combos then hop out of his range to avoid getting taken down. Anthony's speed will be a huge factor in this fight, can he land his combos without getting his leg grabbed by Lauzon. If this fight hits the ground, Lauzon has a great chance, but always remember that every round starts standing up. I think Anthony's quick hands will be too much for Lauzon to handle and he will eventually get clipped.
Prediction - Anthony "Showtime" Pettis via TKO

Ryan Bader (15-2) Vs Quinton "Rampage" Jackson (32-9)
Ryan Bader

Quinton "Rampage" Jackson

Rampage weighed in at 211 pounds. That is 6 pounds overweight. Rampage claimed he had an injury that doctors told him was serious enough for him to pull out of the fight and that injury made it difficult for him to cut weight to 205.  Rampage is a tough bastard, but this injury might slow down his foot work and leave him open to takedowns. I do not know what type of injury it is, that information was not released. On that note, if Rampage was healthy and at 100% he would want to be the aggressor in this fight and bring the fight to Bader instead of moving back and letting Bader approach him. In most of Baders KO wins, he is moving forward and catching his opponent off balance while shuffling backwards. Tito Ortiz proved that if you bring the fight to Bader and leave him moving back, you will catch him off guard, and if Tito can drop Bader, I have no doubt in my mind that Rampage can do the same. Bader on the other hand will want to slow down Rampage, throw tons of leg kicks and jabs. Bader will need to destroy the legs of Rampage and frustrate him with jabs, that will set up great take down opportunities. If Rampage is healthy, I do not see Bader taking Rampage down. In the end, Rampage will find Baders chin and rock him. Rampage just doesn't have that spark inside of him to finish fights anymore. He will hurt Bader but not finish him off.
Final Prediction- Quinton "Rampage" Jackson via Unanimous Decision

Frankie "The Answer" Edgar (14-1-1) Vs Benson "Smooth" Henderson (14-2) For the UFC Lightweight Championship
Frankie "The Answer" Edgar

Benson "Smooth" Henderson

This is one sick main event. This definitely gets my fight of the night honors. Two warriors who are incredibly quick, well rounded, and tough as nails will go to war inside of a steel cage for a world championship. Picking a winner of this fight took me weeks to determine. Ben Henderson, the most athletic man at 155 is much bigger than Edgar, he will need to use this advantage and try to control Edgar by taking the fight wherever he wants, Edgar has shown weakness while clinching early on in a fight, If Benson can use his size to push Edgar against the cage and land some clean shots early on then it will be goodnight Edgar. Edgar in his previous fights with Gray Maynard has been nearly TKOed in the first round, this definitely shows that Edgar needs a round or two to get started. That is awful news for Edgar, because Ben Henderson is the most explosive man right now at 155 and will try to find that kill shot in the first round, that kill shot that Maynard just could not find to put Edgar away for good. This may seem like I am favoring Henderson, but unfortunately for him, Edgar has the true heart of a champion. Edgar is a late fighter, he awakens in the 3rd, 4th and 5th rounds and that is where he fights like one of the greatest on the planet. Henderson cuts a lot of weight and that definitely will cause problems with dehydration, this was shows in his 5 round bout with Anthony Pettis in which Henderson won the first 2 rounds, but then got punished in the last 3 and then lost that fight by decision. Edgar may have to endure some punishment for the first round, but that will only fuel him to use his world class wrestling to take Henderson down and keep him down. Edgar's boxing and foot work is perfect for setting up his take downs and softening up his opponents. After all this time of thinking, I believe Edgar retains the belt.
Final Prediction- Frankie Edgar via Unanimous Decision

Thanks for reading my predictions, post your picks in the comments below and enjoy this insane night of fights! Be sure to follow me on Twitter, where I talk about MMA and other Sports.

NHL Trade Deadline: State Of The Panthers

The Panthers are in a unusual position. They have not made the playoffs since 2000. Dale Tallon and Assistant General Manager Mike Santos have done a great job rebuilding this team. As a result about this they now rank 20th in attendance, which should shut down any chance at relocation.

The panthers are obviously buyers at the deadline. They have been propelled by the great additions of Kris Versteeg, Tomas Fleischmann, Brian Campbell, and Jose Theodore. As there roster sits right now they have a tremendous amount of depth but not much frontline talent. They are also ravaged by injuries but have the #1 farm system in the game with the likes of Nick Bjustad, Jonathan Huberduea, Quinton Howden, Jacob Markstrom, and Luke shaw. With looking at their roster and current position you will have to speculate, that they will make some moves as Tallon has done all season but no blockbusters.
They have already added Jared Smithson for a 6th round pick. He should provide for a gritty 4th line center. With the limited number of sellers, the prices are sure to be sky high as seen by the Carter and Zidlichky trades.

Who will be available and have a chance to land with the Panthers.

Rick Nash- this one will be doubtful but will provide a big public relations boost for the club. He would require a lot of talent that I don't think Tallon would be willing to give.

Kristian Huselias - he would require a lower level prospect or a mid draft pick. He is a ufa at years end and is therefore useless to columbus. He would be a great fit.

Mike Ribiero - when there are frontline centers available you will see a ton of interest. He would give the team the secondary scoring it needs.

Derek Roy- He is having by his standards a terrible season. When you combine that with all the money that buffalo has tied up he could be traded. Although he is a smaller center he would give a big boost to the scoring.

Dustin Brown- With a very team friendly 3.2 million dollar cap hit and a leadership mentality he looks like a great buy. The big question is what would Kings GM Lombardi want for him.
Andrei Kostitsen- There have been rumblings of his discontent in Montreal but there have been reports that he wants to stay. He is a UFA at seasons end and could easily end up with his brother in Nashville next year. For half a season at a likely 2nd and 5th round cost he would provide more offense to a team that needs it.

Other trade candidates to the panthers include Bobby Ryan, Robyn Regehr, Paul Stastny, Fedor Tyutin, Trevor Daley, Steve Ott, Cam Barker, Sam Gagner, Johnny Oduya, Keith Ballard, Mason Raymond, Chris Stewart, Mikail Grobavski, Ray Whitney, Sergie Gonchar, and P.A Parenteau.

Who The Panthers May Trade Away
Panthers Trade chips Prospects- Erik Gudbranson and Jonathan Huberdeau would all only be included in blockbusters. Quinton Howden, Nick Bjustad, and Luke Shaw would require a major deal. Rocco Grimaldi, Colby Robak, and Alec Petrovich as well as others would be involved in Above average sized deals.

Dmitri Kulikov- He is 22 and very valuable. He is coming off Knee Surgery but could be a trade chip involved in a major deal.

Jason Garrison- He has been one of the biggest surprises not just for the panthers but in the league. He has 13 goals which is the most for a d-man in the league. He is looking at somewhere in the 4.5 million dollar range which I don't know is what Tallon is thinking.

Mike Santorelli- With the season he is having along with the panthers depth at center he could be a trade deadline casualty.

Overview
The Panthers are in good position to make a move. The chances of a big deal are slim but could happen. There best addition will be the people coming back from injury including Scottie Upshall, Jason Garrison, Dmitri Kulikov, Matt Bradley, Marco Sturm, and Ed Jovanovski. They are in good playoff position right now and will probably win the southeast. Down the road with the cap space they have as well as the farm system they will only get better.

Update: Panthers acquire Wojtek Wolski from Rangers for 2013 3rd round pick and Mike Vernance.

I hope you enjoyed this trade deadline breakdown of possible trades the Panthers may be involved in. Follow me on Twitter

Miami Marlins Make A Big Splash

It’s that time of year again, the beginning of Spring Training in the MLB. This means two things: the offseason is coming to a close, and the regular season is lurking around the corner. The team that made the most noise this offseason happens to be my favorite club, the Miami Marlins. The Marlins have practically reinvented themselves in every way imaginable.

They relocated from their former home, Sun Life Stadium, to their first official ballpark in Miami. Their new stadium sports a magnificent view of downtown Miami and has a retractable roof to end the phenomenon that plagued countless Marlins games in the past: the rain delay. The roof will close whenever there is a likely chance of precipitation or high temperature, keeping fans cool and dry. They have switched the “Florida” in their name to “Miami” to honor the new city in which they now reside. They have even switched up their logo and uniform. The Marlins’ new colors include bright blue, yellow, and Marlins Owner Jeffery Loria’s favorite color, Orange. Each of the colors, according to Loria, resemble the beauty of Miami. The Blue, explains Loria, resembles the magnificent Miami sky and the ocean. The Yellow represents the beautiful sunshine and beaches of Miami. The orange mimics the breathtaking Miami sunrise and sunset. Many have ridiculed the new colors for being too “fruity” but I happen to like the unique look.

The Marlins used to be known as a stingy and cheap organization. They would never bring in big-name talent. Once their young players outgrew their rookie contracts, the Marlins would either trade them for prospects or waive them. The lack of spending from the front office amounted to one of the lowest payrolls in the league annually since their inaugural year in 1993. The front office had always blamed their lack of a stadium for their low payroll and promised that it would change if they were given a stadium. Jeffery Loria certainly stuck to his word. After being granted their new stadium, the Marlins' spending has drastically increased this offseason.
When it was time to search for a new manager, the marlins sought out one of the best (and most pricey) managers in the business, Ozzie Guillen. They then proceeded to improve their 25-man roster in free agency. The Marlins dove in head first into the free agent market and made quite a splash. They acquired all-star shortstop Jose Reyes, one of the most dangerous hitters and baserunners in the league. They drastically improved their starting rotation with the signing of Mark Buerhle and trade for Carlos Zambrano. The Marlins added a stellar closer, former San Diego Padre Heath Bell. These big signings lead many to believe that they will be in contention for a playoff spot come September.

The Marlins have taken a giant leap in the right direction, and as a lifetime fan of the fish, I can finally say that I am stoked for the upcoming season. Keep up with me on Twitter!
